At the conclusion of the Drake University football game last weekend, several players reported that their locker room had been burglarized, and they were missing valuable items, including wallets and personal devices.

According to KCCI, Des Moines police later identified 18-year-old Jeziah Calhoun as the culprit and charged him with second-degree theft and two counts of unauthorized use of a credit card.

One student-athlete used the “Find My” feature on his Apple products to locate his stolen AirPods. The location populated at Calhoun’s residence, leading police straight to him. When they arrived, they obtained a search warrant for the home, and Calhoun admitted to the theft. He also turned over most of the stolen property. Some of the items, like ID cards, were discarded before police arrived.

Calhoun said he entered the locker room during Saturday’s football game and took items from eight players’ lockers.

Drake’s athletics department has not released a statement regarding the thefts at this time, and it has not been announced if Calhoun remains in custody.

The thefts at Drake University come just a few weeks after a different man was accused of stealing football helmets from the locker room at Nebraska University. According to 1011 Now, in that instance, 22-year-old Brett Powers accessed the locker room with a key-card reader and stole six football helmets valued at a total of $9,000. He was a former Nebraska Athletics employee.

Later, Powers was seen on security footage returning to the locker room and stealing additional pieces of clothing and other team merchandise.

In that case, Powers was charged with one count of burglary and a $15,000 bond.
