Fans who purchased food at a sporting event or concert at Washington D.C.'s Capitol One Arena between Oct. 1, 2024, and Dec. 31, 2025, can now file a claim as part of a $4.5 million class-action settlement.
According to WUSA, Aramark Management Services entered a settlement over a 3% venue fee that was charged on Aramark purchases. The court documents claim that Aramark did not properly disclose the fee, which violates DC's Consumer Protection Laws, specifically under Unlawful Trade Practices.
Aramark oversees general concessions throughout the arena and places like Pat & Stuggs, Kong Dog, Joia Burger and Balos.
A court order notice was scheduled to begin on Oct. 5 for customers who paid the venue fee between Oct. 1, 2024, and Dec. 31, 2025. Customers have until Dec. 4 to file a claim.
Aramark denies any wrongdoing. The company says that there will not be a set payout, but rather that it will be after attorneys' fees and expenses and administrative costs are calculated.
Excess fees will go out to those who filed a claim by the deadline.
