Milwaukee Public Schools is in the process of rehiring former athletics commissioner, Bill Molbeck, according to several sources cited by local NBC affiliate WTMJ.
Molbeck is being hired as a limited-term employee, the sources say.
According to WTMJ's Jenna Rae, Molbeck worked for the MPS Recreation Department for 28 years, including 17 as athletics commissioner. He vacated the position in 2019, and Bobbie Kelsey took over. For the last several weeks, Kelsey has been under scrutiny after her office failed to file paperwork for the football teams at Bay View High School and Pulaski High School, forcing those teams to forfeit wins and excluding them from the playoffs this year, and for the next two years.

Lynn Greb, the current MPS recreation director, said they're in the process of appealing this decision with the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association. In a previous interview, Greb told WTMJ that MPS and the affected schools are hoping the WIAA forgoes the two-year playoff ban.
Since this news about Bay View and Pulaski broke, WTMJ has learned there are additional problems within the athletics office, including game officials not being paid on time and scheduling errors.
WTMJ reached out to MPS several times about Molbeck's hiring. A spokesperson for the district said "the district cannot comment on personnel matters."
