University of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore will take a two-game suspension for the 2025 season related to the Wolverine’s 2023 sign-stealing incident. Moore was originally put on notice when he allegedly deleted a text thread with former coach Connor Stalions, who resigned for his role in stealing play-call signals from future opponents.

According to Sports Illustrated, the suspension is self-imposed by the University of Michigan, and Moore will sit out of the week three and week four games against Central Michigan and Nebraska, respectively.

Back when Stallion was found to be stealing their opponents’ signals, Moore was an offensive coordinator with the team. Jim Harbaugh, who was the head coach at the time of the incident, did not cooperate with the investigation. Back in 2023, Harbaugh was also suspended for several games related to the incident.

ESPN first reported on Moore’s suspension on Monday, but the university has yet to release an official announcement. Once the university makes its official announcement, it will be up to the NCAA to decide whether to accept these self-imposed sanctions or seek higher penalties.

Despite personnel changes and the passing of several years, the NCAA has yet to conclude its investigation into the sign-stealing scandal. University of Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel told the Detroit News that a conclusion could come later this summer.
