Recently retired Celina (Texas) High School head football coach Bill Elliott has had his teaching license permanently revoked by the Texas Education Agency.

As reported by CBS affiliate KXII in Ardmore, Okla., the agency said he will not be able to reapply for a new certificate, and his name was added to the TEA’s “Do Not Hire” registry.

Elliott’s retirement in January came after 33 years at the school — and after his son Caleb, a former Celina ISD school coach and teacher, was arrested and accused of secretly recording and photographing middle school boys in the locker room.

An investigation by Celina ISD found no evidence that Bill Elliott knew about his son’s alleged behavior, but he was named in a negligence lawsuit filed by the parents of Caleb’s alleged victims, KXII reported.

However, the TEA permanently revoked Elliott’s educator certificate based on a report of criminal misconduct from an alleged incident that occurred in 1995, according to The Dallas Morning News.

The agency contacted Celina police in November about the allegation, the release said. Police said they contacted the person who reported the incident to TEA and confirmed the allegation was provided to the TEA but not reported in 1995. Police did not name the person, but the allegation has been reported by at least one news outlet as rape of a female who was a Celina ISD student at the time.

Police said they cannot pursue a criminal investigation after reviewing the information and considering the statute of limitations.
