A former North Carolina high school assistant coach employed with the district for about a month is accused of sexually assaulting a student, WGHP-TV reported.
Connor Jordan Earp, 25, who had been an assistant football coach at Northern Guilford High School in Greensboro, N.C., was arrested Wednesday.
Earp was charged with felony indecent liberties with a child under 16 years old. According to court documents, the victim is a student.
He resigned from his position Wednesday and is no longer employed with Guilford County Schools.
According to Guilford County Schools, Earp had only been with the district since Aug. 11, 2021.
Superintendent of Guilford County Schools Dr. Sharon Contreras released a statement calling the actions “unconscionable” and emphasizing that the district is cooperating with the investigation and launching its own internal investigation.
“The emotional and physical well-being of our students is our top priority and we will not tolerate any behavior that puts that in jeopardy,” Contreras said.
Earp’s next court hearing is scheduled for late October.
