Gunfire Halts HS Football Game; Three Teens Arrested

Gunfire erupted near the end of a Florida state high school playoff game last Friday night, sending teams, officials and fans scurrying for cover.

The incident occurred with less than 3 minutes left in the fourth quarter of the game between Miami Central and Carol City at Traz Powell Stadium in northwest Miami, numerous media outlets reported.

No injuries were reported. Once the gunshots were fired, video showed both teams and officials rushing off the field. One player was seen lying on his back before he got up.

Three teenage suspects, Mark Trimble, 19; Kaion Lynch, 18; and Larico Walker, 18; were taken into custody and face several charges, including carrying a firearm onto school property, CBS Miami reported. Police recovered three weapons and believe the teens may have fired their guns into the air, according to the TV report.

Violence among high school students in Miami-Dade and Broward counties has included four shooting victims from Miami Northwestern High School this year, including one student who was killed last Wednesday while walking home from school.
