In a public statement Friday, University of Connecticut president Susan Herbst confirmed that the school will be subject to an NCAA investigation into its men’s basketball team.

The university intends to cooperate with the investigation in a “thorough and transparent manner reflective of the model athletic and academic institution we continually strive to be,” said Herbst.

According to USA Today, the University of Connecticut has come under scrutiny by the organization twice more in recent years, including recruitment violations between 2008 and 2012 and a failure to meet academic standards in 2013.

The university retained the services of specialty athletics-compliance law firm Lightfoot, Franklin and White after first hearing of new allegations this past fall.
