A hard-fought college hockey game ended with a clash between coaches on the ice this weekend.
Michigan Tech and Arizona State met on Saturday night in a game that featured 24 penalties, including six after time had expired according to the Detroit News.
Following Michigan Tech’s 5-3 win, first-year head coach Joe Shawhan got tangled up with ASU’s coaches. Video of the incident was posted on Twitter.

Arizona State coach Greg Powers reportedly called Shawhan’s actions “bush league,” but Shawhan said in a postgame interview that the incident “looked a lot worse than it was.”
Shawhan released a statement on Monday apologizing for his role in the incident, saying, “What happened after Saturday night’s hockey game is something I’m not proud of as a head coach of this historic program. I’m sorry for my involvement and know that it is not acceptable for Michigan Tech or the WCHA (Western Collegiate Hockey Association).”
Michigan Tech athletic director Suzanne Sanregret told the Detroit News that the issue is “behind us,” and that the school wouldn’t seek further disciplinary action against Shawhan.
