After returning from a professional leave of absence, University of Maryland athletic director Kevin Anderson announced on Friday that heβd be resigning from his position.
The announcement was made via a press release on the schoolβs website. Anderson shared the news with department staff in a letter, where he wrote:
βToday I am resigning from my position of Athletic Director at the University of Maryland. I am very proud of what we were able to accomplish over the last seven years at the University of Maryland. It has been a sincere privilege to work with so many talented coaches, administrators and student-athletes who have proudly represented Maryland athletically, academically and in the community.β
During his tenure, Anderson facilitated the schoolβs transition from the Atlantic Coast Conference to the Big Ten Conference, and led a department that won six national championships.
βIβm grateful for all that Kevin has done to support our student-athletes to be successful in the classroom, on the field or court, and in life,β university president Wallace Loh said in a statement. βI wish him every success in his future endeavors. I know heβll inspire many more student-athletes for years to come.β
