Scheduling Gets Complicated After Missouri Storm

Athletic directors in Missouri are struggling to find enough dates for basketball games and wrestling matches after the area received 15 to 18 inches of snow over the weekend.

According to the Boonville Daily News, multiple cancellations due to weather have complicated matters.

Boonville athletic director Chris Shikles noted that he's currently dealing with "finding a date both schools can agree upon, finding officials and then busing for away games."

Athletic directors in the area were forced to cancel a plethora of games and matches last Friday, as most schools were outright closed or released students early in anticipation of the storm.

Pilot Grove athletic director and basketball coach Derek Skaggs said its’ very hard when games are cancelled.

“We are out of dates except two at this point,” Skaggs said.

At the college level, the University of Missouri was forced to postpone its game at South Carolina due to travel issues related to the storm. The schools worked with the Southeastern Conference office to reschedule the game, which took place on Sunday.

Schools in the state are hoping for better weather this week, with rain and milder temperatures forecast for the coming week.
