NIRSA held its annual conference in Boston over the weekend, wrapping up the show yesterday with a party for attendees.

The show brought in nearly 2,400 attendees from 485 institutions, representing eight countries in total. The show’s expo floor, open Feb. 16 and 17, offered an immersive experience where attendees could interface with 160 exhibitors, all showcasing the latest in innovative products and services for the collegiate recreation industry.

NIRSA is also a place for college recreation professionals to learn. This year’s event featured 133 sessions from more than 250 presenters addressing issues ranging from student professional development to creating innovative programming that addresses fitness and overall wellbeing.

Attendees could also stay active while at NIRSA, as show organizers put a premium on offering a variety of open classes. From yoga to Zumba and from boxing to Barre, beginners and advanced enthusiasts got their sweat on while learning new techniques.

A handful of notable speakers ran the gambit from Tim Shriver, the chairman of Special Olympics International, to Lee Mun Wah, an internationally-renowned Chinese American documentary filmmaker, author, poet, Asian storyteller, educator, community therapist and master diversity trainer.

Next year’s conference will take place April 18-19 at the Phoenix Convention Center.
