The Board of School Trustees for South Bend Community School Corporation approved the job description for the new dean of students/athletics position during a meeting Monday, according to a report by ABC News affiliate WBND.
The new position will replace athletic director positions at the city's four public high schools. Those four positions were eliminated as part of an athletic department restructuring plan announced on March 4.
Tasks for the dean of students/athletics position include assisting the principal as a member of the administrative team to develop and operate the athletic program. Qualifications include a bachelor's degree and three to five years of successful administrative, teaching and coaching experience.
Athletic directors impacted by the restructuring will be able to apply for the new role, SBCSC officials said.
