Nicholls State University received a $2.52 million gift to support the expansion of Barker Hall to include a football operations center at the south end of the school’s football stadium. The football program will relocate from Barker Hall to the new football facility, which will include a locker room, a player lounge, a team meeting room, a training room, equipment storage, coaches offices and a position group meeting rooms. Southern Illinois University Edwardsville broke ground Thursday on the Harry Gallatin SIUE Golf Practice Facility. The $500,000, 1,840-square-foot project will feature three indoor hitting bays, a video training system, an indoor putting surface and doors allowing players to hit onto the driving range. — siuecougars.com

The University of Illinois football program is set to move into its new $80 million Henry Dale and Betty Smith Football Performance Center next month. The facility will feature team meeting rooms, coaches offices, sports medicine facilities and a weight room — allowing for other Illini programs to use facilities located inside of Memorial Stadium. The University of Delaware announced that it achieved its $60 million fundraising goal for the renovation of Delaware Stadium. The project broke ground in December 2018, and is expected to be complete in time for the upcoming football season, however, a temporary press box will be in use throughout the 2019 season. — udel.edu

Wichita State University held a groundbreaking ceremony for the $13.8 million Student-Athlete Success Center this week. The 36,000-square-foot facility will support the school’s student-athletes academic needs with a 2,500-square-foot study hall, tutoring rooms and a computer center. In addition, the facility will become the new home of the school’s track and cross country programs. — KAKE.com
