The University of Kansas this week celebrated its new Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena, a state-of-the-art facility that will become the new home to KU volleyball. Boasting 30,000-square-feet of space, the facility seats 2,265 fans and has amenities for both players and fans such as a Taraflex court and a 324-square-foot video board. Other amenities include custom lockers, a team lounge, expanded shower space and more. — KUAthletics.com

Syracuse University is holding an open house today at its new Barnes Center at The Arch. The 190,000-square-foot project combines health and wellness services to create a one-stop complex for university students. Designed by Populous, key amenities include a climbing wall, a 25-yard lap pool, a four-court gymnasium, a multi-activity court, group exercise rooms, an indoor rowing tank, an esports training center, a student health and wellness center and rooms for meditation and group therapy.Barnes Center at the Arch [Rendering courtesy Populous].
Liberty University recently completed phase one of its two-phase renovation of the Football Operations Center. The first phase included renovations to training room facilities and the team locker room. Locker room upgrades, revealed to the team for the first time below, include 122 new lockers and graphic upgrades. The facility was designed by Nashville, Tenn.-based Advent, which also designed phase two of the project.

Michigan State University broke ground last week on the expansion of its Munn Ice Arena. The project will provide amenities such as a locker room, a weight room, training areas, hydrotherapy pools, shooting bays and a player lounge. Rutgers University this week celebrated the grand opening of the RWJBarnabas Health Athletic Performance Center. The 307,000-square-foot facility houses the school’s sports medicine program while providing state-of-the-art practice facilities, locker rooms and training areas for men’s and women’s basketball, wrestling, and gymnastics. — ScarletKnights.com

Wake Forest University is opening its new Sutton Sports Performance Center and Shah Basketball Complex today. The Sutton Sports Performance Center will serve all of Wake Forest’s student-athletes, providing them with a four-level, 87,000-square-foot space with strength and conditioning facilities. It’ll include 10,000-square-feet of dedicated strength and conditioning equipment for football, along with space reserved for men’s and women’s Olympic sports. Additional amenities include meeting rooms, coaches offices and “heritage areas.” The Shah Basketball complex will encompass 24,400-square-feet, and provide both the men’s and women’s basketball programs with dedicated practice space, complete with 6,000-square-feet dedicated to strength and conditioning equipment for both programs. — GoDeacs.com
