The University of Pennsylvania launched a $44 million fundraising initiative to fund a new indoor track and field facility. To be named the Jane and David Ott Center for Track & Field upon completion, the 63,000-square-foot facility will feature a six-lane, 200-meter banked track; an eight-lane sprint track; dedicated field event areas; and spectator seating. The University of North Texas held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for it’s Lovelace & McNatt Families Practice Facility. The $16 million facility features a full-sized football field with an additional 10 yards beyond one end zone, a recruiting lounge and track lanes. Spalding University in Louisville, Ky., celebrated the grand opening of a new 7.3-acre on-campus Athletic Complex this week. The facility is host to the school’s men’s and women’s soccer and softball programs, and includes two synthetic turf soccer fields, a softball field and lighting. The new facility could pave the way for the Division III school to launch a lacrosse program in the near future. — WLKY.com
