The University of Georgia’s Board of Regents this week approved $80 million to construct a football facility. The plan calls for a 109,600-square-foot renovation, including a new nutrition area, meeting rooms, new coaches offices and a weight room that will double the size of the existing weight facility. A second phase of the project will renovate the final 28,700 square feet of the facility. The project is expected to be completed by January 2022. — UGASports.com
Liberty University has received a gift from an anonymous donor to fund an on-campus tennis facility. The $5 million facility will provide 75,000 square feet of space, six tennis courts and seating for 100 fans. A locker room, a team room and a concessions area will also be featured in the project. The University of Pennsylvania will mark the grand opening of the newly renovated Penn Squash Center when the facility hosts the Ivy League Scrimmages this weekend. Hofstra University announced that former lacrosse student-athlete James C. Metzger would provide a substantial gift to fund a renovation of the men’s lacrosse locker room. The renovation will include 48 new lockers, newly remodeled bathroom and shower facilities, and new carpeting. Work is expected to be completed by the start of the 2020 season. — GoHofstra.com
