Facility Friday: Georgia Football, Binghamton Baseball, UAB Basketball and More

The University of Georgia released new renderings of an $80 million football operations building that’s being added to the Butts-Mehre Athletics Complex. Amenities include air-conditioned individual lockers, a game room, an expanded weight room, new coaches’ offices, position meeting rooms and team meeting rooms. Construction is underway, and the facility is expected to be completed by April of 2021. — Atlanta Journal Constitution

Binghamton University recently received a $60 million anonymous gift — the largest in school history — which will fund a new Baseball Stadium Complex. The 84,000-square-foot project will support the Binghamton baseball team, and include a new clubhouse and indoor training facility with batting tunnels, synthetic turf, LED lighting and observation areas for coaches and players. — Binghamton.edu 

The College of Saint Mary announced plans for its $18 million Wellness & Athletic Center (WAC). The state-of-the-art facility will provide access to year-round training and recreation spaces, and will feature a competition-quality track, three multi-sport courts, indoor batting tunnels, a golf simulator, new fitness areas, modern locker rooms, meeting spaces and more. The 82,000-square-foot facility seeks to be a hub for women to excel through sports and recreation. — CSM.edu

The University of Florida’s baseball team recently got a hard hat tour of its future home. The $65-million project will feature a state-of-the art video board, 4,000 chairback seats, a party deck and suites. The project also includes new team spaces, including a dugout, indoor batting cages, a player lounge, a nutrition bar, training spaces and more. — GatorCountry.com

The University of Alabama-Birmingham has approved the first phase of a new basketball practice facility. The $8.5 million project, a renovation of Wallace Gymnasium, will serve both the men’s and women’s basketball programs. Plans call for two full-length courts, coaches’ suites, locker rooms and player lounges for each program. — UABSports.com

The College of William & Mary recently announced plans to revitalize Kaplan Arena, and build a new Sports Performance Center. The $57-million project will provide about 167,000 square feet of renovated and new spaces. The Kaplan Arena portion of the project will overhaul the entrance and lobby, provide enhanced seating for students and spectators, and include a new academic center. Meanwhile, the 36,000-square-foot Sports Performance Center will feature a strength and conditioning area, two hydrotherapy pools and sports medicine space.
