Prairie View A&M notched a 70-61 win to remain atop the Southwestern Athletic Conference. However, emotions from a technical foul on Jackson State’s Jayveous McKinnis with 26 seconds remaining appeared to carry over after the game, which aired on ESPNU.
An ESPN video of the handshake line shows a slight bump between Jackson State’s Dontelius Ross and Prairie View A&M’s Darius Williams. Ross went after Williams and was restrained by teammates and a police officer on one end of the Prairie View A&M court.
Ross was eventually released due to the postgame brawl spilling onto the other side of the floor, as seen in a wide-angle Twitter video. The video shows Jackson State’s Khalil Spencer sprinting after Prairie View A&M players before falling over. The teams were primarily kept apart before heading to their respective locker rooms.
Both teams are off until Saturday, when Prairie View A&M will visit Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Jackson State plays at Grambling.
