Construction on Central Michigan University’s Chippewa Champions Center has been halted amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The $32.5 million, 62,240-square-foot project will feature a 7,000-square-foot performance center, an expanded sports medicine facility, a 4,200-square-foot football locker room, two nutrition stations, an auditorium and office space. The school had been hoping to make the facility available for use in time for the Sept. 5 home football opener, but the construction delay could alter that timeline. — CM-Life.com
