The University of Alabama is moving full-steam ahead on its renovation to Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Board of Trustees on Thursday approved an additional $1.17 million for the project, bringing the revised budget to a total of $107.17 million. The additional funds will reportedly go toward construction costs, telecommunications, utilities, landscaping and contingency funds, plus increases in project management and architectural/engineering fees. An enhanced student plaza area will be included in the new project scope, providing additional canopies, lighting, fans and WiFi access in a dedicated social space. — Montgomery Advertiser

Construction on Central Michigan University’s Chippewa Champions Center has been halted amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The $32.5 million, 62,240-square-foot project will feature a 7,000-square-foot performance center, an expanded sports medicine facility, a 4,200-square-foot football locker room, two nutrition stations, an auditorium and office space. The school had been hoping to make the facility available for use in time for the Sept. 5 home football opener, but the construction delay could alter that timeline. — CM-Life.com
