Facility Friday: New Arena, High School Projects and More

Virginia Wesleyan University’s Convocation Hall is under renovation and will have a new look and a new name when work is completed in August. The renovated facility will become the TowneBank Arena in the Jane P. Batten Student Center, and will feature such amenities as 360-degree grandstand seating, an updated and refinished court, updated scoreboards, team locker rooms and an athletic training facility. — VWU.edu

St. Michael Catholic (Ala.) High School recently began construction on its new field house. The 10,000-square-foot project will include a weight room, male and female locker rooms, coaches’ offices, an athletic training room, a multipurpose room, laundry facilities and storage. The field house is the second phase of a multi-phase capital campaign that will ultimately include additional facilities such as a football/soccer stadium, a baseball field and concessions. — StMichaelCHS.org

Construction continues on Northridge (Ind.) High School’s athletics complex despite the pandemic. The facility is on track to to open in the fall, and the turf installation on the baseball and softball fields should be completed by June. Additionally, the project includes a 4,000-seat football stadium complete with a synthetic turf surface and a new track. — GoshenNews.com
