The University of Northern Colorado held a groundbreaking on Saturday for its new Sports Performance Center. Sited near the school’s football practice fields, the 10,000-square-foot project will feature new equipment, a nutrition center and offices for strength and conditioning staff. Oregon State University unveiled its $7.15 million OSU Gymnastics Practice Facility on Monday. The 20,000-square-foot facility includes a 250 percent increase in studio space, a 2,000-square-foot team area, new training equipment and a lobby with spectator seating. In addition, the venue features integrated video and sound, on-floor instructional screens, plunge pools, team meeting space, offices, a locker room and resources for on-site physical therapy. — OSUBeavers.com

Kroger Louisville Division, the operator of 116 regional retail food stores, has pledged $3 million toward an indoor baseball practice facility at the University of Louisville. The project, which is expected to cost about $12 million, will be between 28,000 and 35,000 square feet — enough for an entire infield. The project will feature synthetic turf for practices during inclement weather, and allow the existing the Shad Mason Hack Shack to convert into a dedicated pitching lab. — GoCards.com

Xavier University celebrated a groundbreaking for the Klekamp Family Training Center. The $10 million project, which will be connected to the existing Cintas Center, will include a second practice gymnasium for the school’s basketball and volleyball programs.
