Michigan State says the school did not violate any NCAA rules in its handling of accusations against disgraced former doctor Larry Nassar. Michigan State wrote a letter to the NCAA that was obtained this week by multiple media outlets, including the Lansing State Journal.

When the letter was written in March, more than 250 of Nassar's accusers had come forward, including 25 Michigan State student-athletes, according to the State Journal's report. But the school said it did not break NCAA rules as it dealt with Nassar, who worked with the women's gymnastics team among others.

Here's a section of the letter, which was written by attorney Mike Glazier:

"I trust that you will see that the University is in no way attempting to sidestep the issues facing it, and that if the University had any reason to believe the criminal conduct of Nassar also implicated NCAA rules violations, the University would accept responsibility in that area as well.

"However, after a thorough and analytic examination of NCAA legislation, and an application of the known facts associated with the Nassar matter to NCAA legislation, the University finds no NCAA rules violations."

Glazier also wrote that Nassar's conduct was "abhorrent and a violation of every standard of conduct expected of university of employees."

Nassar, who also worked with the USA Gymnastics team, will spend the rest of his life in prison after he pleaded guilty to multiple charges of sexual assault and child pornography. During his sentencing hearing in January, more than 150 of his accusers confronted Nassar in a Michigan courtroom.
