A coach at a local Christian school in Chesterfield, Va., was arrested and accused of a sexual offense against a student-athlete.

Chesterfield police said Richmond Christian School volleyball coach Elisabeth R. Bredemeier, 21, sexually assaulted a 17-year-old student while in a “custodial relationship,” according to a WWBT-TV report.

Bredemeier, a Powhatan resident, is charged with taking indecent liberties with a child by a custodian and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The alleged offense occurred at a home in Chesterfield between April and mid-July, Chesterfield police told the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

"Because she was a coach for the school she was in a position of authority and a custodian to this young lady," Sgt. Michael Agnew told the newspaper.

The alleged victim's family reported the incident to police. Police declined to elaborate on the nature of the assault.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
