In the ninth inning of Thursday’s game between the Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres, a bat slipped from out of Padres catcher Hector Sanchez’s hands and flew into the stands, striking fans.

One woman was hit in the forehead, and the game was delayed for more than 10 minutes while she was tended to by medical personnel, according to SI.com.

In a statement, the Padres said that the fans who were hit didn’t appear to have suffered serious injuries. The woman who was hit in the head was alert as she was wheeled out of the stadium.
“Last season, we extended our backstop netting in accordance with Major League Baseball’s recommendations,” the Padres statement reads. “Any injury at the ballpark warrants evaluation and discussion of current practices.”
