As the thermostat rises, athletes practicing in the summer are at risk for heat-related illness and even heat stroke. Here's a step-by-step guide to cold water immersion treatment for exertional heat illness or heat stroke. There is a 100 percent survival rate when used promptly, so have it ready to go. Exertional heat stroke one of the leading causes of death for high school athletes, so be in the know and have the treatment ready to go.
