A 69-year old driver reportedly hit the gas pedal instead of the brake in his car parked outside a Seattle LA Fitness location, and the resulting accident found his car in the middle of the gym’s swimming pool.

TV station KOMO reports that the car accelerated from a handicap parking space outside, smashed through a glass wall and splashed into the pool. The incident happened just before 8 a.m. on Monday morning, and three swimmers were present in the pool at the time. None of the swimmers were injured in the incident, and KOMO reports that two of them sprung into action to help save the driver.

Two tow truck drivers were called in to figure out how to haul the partially submerged car from the pool. The drivers reportedly needed to get into the pool just to figure out how to properly attach tow cables.

β€œI’ve never done anything like this but I’ve been in situations just as bad as this one,” tow truck driver Irvin Escalante told KOMO.

The fitness center closed as the car was being extracted, but other areas of the facility were reopened later that same afternoon. As for the pool, an LA Fitness spokesperson told KOMO that they’ll ensure that the facility is safe before letting members back into the water.
