An altercation outside of a high school football game Friday turned deadly when one man pulled a gun, shooting and killing another man and prompting the stadium to be evacuated.

The Patriot-News reports that the incident took place in the waning moments of a game between Jeannette (Penn.) High School and Imani Christian High School.

In a criminal complaint describing the incident, police said that 40 year-old Greg Harper told police he was approached by 48-year-old Dameian Williams, who struck Harper twice in the head, knocking him to the ground. Harper, who was armed, pulled his weapon and fired. Williams was pronounced dead at a nearby emergency room, according to the county coroner’s office.

Fans in the stadium were evacuated with under 4 minutes remaining in the game. Fans filtered out on the opposite side of the stadium from where the shooting took place. No injuries were reported.

In a statement, the Jeannette City School District said that police, security workers and district administrators coordinated to secure the area and immediately relocate players, coaches, band members and cheerleaders to a safe location.

Counseling services will be made available to both students and staff throughout the week.
