A high school student in Mississippi is being treated at a local hospital after she climbed the fence at a community pool and jumped in the water Thursday morning.

Jimmy Ware, chairman of the Natchez-Adams Recreation Commission who manages the pool, saw the girl jump the fence between 9 and 10 a.m. Thursday morning.

“She said she wanted to get into the pool area and I told her ‘No’ the pool was closed and asked why she wasn’t in school. Then she left,” Ware told The Natchez Democrat.

Soon after, however, the girl returned and jumped into the 7-foot end of the pool. Ware jumped in after her and pulled her out.

Natchez Adams School District superintendent Fred Butcher confirmed that the girl was a student at Natchez High School. Paramedics were called and the girl was taken to the hospital for treatment, but her condition nor her injuries were not made available.
