Two men arrested in connection with dozens of locker room thefts at fitness clubs in Bellevue, Wash., are now facing charges for similar crimes in at least six states.

Troy Mitchell and Sydney Williams were primarily after credit cards left in people’s wallets. Authorities said they targeted places like LA Fitness clubs in locations across the country.

The pair used a gym membership to get into the locker room. and would then cut the locks and steal credit cards. The men were caught on surveillance cameras buying up gift cards, often before the victims realized they had been robbed.

“So we have dozens and dozens of victims here in Bellevue,” Meeghan Black, Bellevue Police Department spokeswoman, told KIRO.

Bellvue police actually followed Mitchell and Williams on their cross-country crime spree.

“They would use the same gym membership card,” said Black, “and so when they would check in Colorado or Oregon or Georgia or Texas, it would light up. So our detectives alerted law enforcement officials in all those different states. And now they’re being brought up on charges around the nation.”
