Eight people associated with a youth baseball team have tested positive for COVID-19 after a weekend tournament.
The team includes players who attend Newberg (Ore.) High School. Only one of the people who have tested positive for the virus is showing symptoms.
The Newberg team learned that the Roseburg team they were to play in a weekend tournament had reported two cases on that team. While the Newberg team hadn’t yet had any contact with the Roseburg team, Newberg decided to leave the tournament early.

According to the local NBC affiliate, everyone on the team was directed to be tested, which led to eight positive tests upon their return to Newburg. Â
Newburg School District superintendent Joe Morelock said that all contact tracing and social distancing protocols have been followed and the team is now working with the Oregon Health Authority.
The names of the students who tested positive will not be released.
