A man in Hilliard, Ohio, has been charged with vandalizing the city's athletics complex, causing thousands of dollars in damage.
According to WBNS, which cited reports from the Hilliard Division of Police, officers received multiple reports about different properties being vandalized between July 14 and Sept. 9. The properties included the new Hilliard Athletic Complex on Cosgray Road and the Hilliard Food Pantry on Main Street.
The man reportedly spray painted racial and anti-Semitic words and phrases on the facilities.
Police estimate the damage to the new Hilliard Athletic Complex to be between $15,000 and $18,000.
Officers surveilled Victor Garcia-Martinez and then eventually obtained a warrant to search his home. They also found nozzles to spray cans inside his pants pockets and multiple used spray cans inside his vehicle. They also found ledgers with markings similar to those found on the damaged properties.
Garcia-Martinez refused to speak with investigators at the scene, according to court records. He is charged with vandalism and possession of a controlled substance.
