The Monroe County (N.Y.) Sheriff's Office arrested a spectator who assaulted players Friday night during a varsity football game at Rush-Henrietta Senior High School in Henrietta, according to Jeffrey Onze, the school's athletic director.
As reported by ABC affiliate WHAM in Rochester, Onze stated in a letter addressed to the community that the spectator approached the visiting team's sideline and assaulted players during the fourth quarter of the game between Rush-Henrietta and East/World of Inquiry.
Onze said first responders subdued the individual, who was arrested and removed from the stadium. No serious injuries were reported.
The game, which was broadcast live as part of WHAM's Friday Night Rivals schedule, was delayed for several minutes while officials brought the situation under control.
Onze said the spectator was not affiliated with Rush-Henrietta, and no Rush-Henrietta players were involved in the incident.
Rush-Henrietta won the game, which served as the regular-season finale for both teams, 17-14.
