Area / Square Feet: 55,000

After 25 years, advances in training techniques and increased expectations of world-class athletes necessitated a renovation of the programming spaces at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. The cornerstone project for the improvements is the Ted Stevens Sports Services Center, which combines 18,000 square feet of renovated space with a 37,000-square-foot addition. The expansion includes a new agility field, sports medicine and recovery areas, new administrative meeting spaces and offices, and a multipurpose classroom.

Daylighting, color, materials and technology were instrumental in creating an inviting, comfortable place for the athletes to prepare, focus, train, recover, receive treatment and rehabilitate when required. Within the strength and conditioning venue, technology has been incorporated to measure athletes’ performance and technique. Plyometric stairs, ramps and an indoor/outdoor sprint track cater to the specific training needs of these world-class athletes. The coaches’ offices are situated to provide supervision of the main workout areas.
