Laramie County School District - East High School

Cheyenne, Wyo.
Construction Cost: $16.6 million
Area / Square Feet: 32,700
Occupancy Date: March 2022

Seeing that the existing pool was well over 50 years old, East High School determined it was due for an upgrade. Its aquatic facility featured numerous deficiencies in design and condition, including a low roof structure, a shallow pool tub, and a pool shell and deck past their service life. Among these faults, the pool featured only six swim lanes, inadequate ADA access, insufficient spectator seating and little room for team members.

Given the pool’s deficiencies, the school district decided to build a brand-new standalone aquatic center. The impressive new pool includes a 75-by-120-foot stretch with 10 swim lanes, four springboards, a stair entry and a movable bulkhead. Also included in the facility are restrooms, shower and locker rooms, a mechanical equipment room, a pool equipment storage room, spectator and competitor seating areas, an administrative office and a custodial room.
