Crystal Beach Aquatic Park

Madison, Ind.
Construction Cost: $7.2 million
Area / Square Feet: 36,600
Occupancy Date: July 2024

A beloved landmark since 1938, Crystal Beach has been reimagined as a modern aquatics destination that preserves its iconic “seashore” character while introducing new opportunities for recreation and play. The revitalized 36,600-square-foot Crystal Beach Aquatic Park features a 14,000-square-foot recreation pool designed for all ages and abilities. Anchoring the design is a zero-depth entry that recalls the original shoreline effect, flowing into multiple aquatic zones for leisure, fitness and fun. Swimmers can enjoy two 25-yard lap lanes, a winding lazy river, two waterslides and diving boards, while families explore an expansive wet deck and a children’s activity tower with spray and play features. Underwater benches and shaded seating areas provide comfortable spaces for relaxation and social connection. The renovation also enhanced support spaces, including a fully upgraded bathhouse with new locker rooms, restrooms, concessions areas and an elevator for improved accessibility. Modern filtration systems ensure efficiency, water quality and long-term durability. Guided by the City of Madison’s vision and supported by multiple community partners, the project transforms a historic icon into a vibrant, inclusive aquatics park that continues to serve as the heart of summer recreation in the community.
