Magic on a budget

Like Walt Disney, who was born and raised in Marceline, Larkin Aquatics has a long history with the town. The firm designed Marceline’s original pool in 1956, which lasted for 60 years. Larkin’s’ redesign of the Marceline Swimming Pool maintains a small-town feel, while incorporating a dome as the spark of magic that allows local residents to swim year-round.

Complete redesign

The Larkin Aquatics design involved a complete renovation of the old pool. The facility now features a zero-depth entry, six racing lanes, a shaded water bench, an interactive play structure, a diving board, a basketball hoop, an open flume water slide and the prominent inflatable dome enclosure. The dome was designed to insulate the building throughout the harsh Midwestern winters, while still providing an enjoyable indoor/outdoor swimming space on a limited budget.
