The Avondale Aquatic Center, known locally as β€œThe Wave” for its distinctive wavelike shade structure, is a state-of-the-art aquatics destination designed for recreation, fitness and community engagement. The facility features an 8,770-square-foot competition pool with 10 25-yard lap lanes, two 1-meter diving boards, underwater benches and dedicated space for swim lessons, with depths ranging from 3 feet to 12 feet, 6 inches. Complementing this is an 8,175-square-foot leisure pool, offering a play structure, water basketball and volleyball, a lily pad walk, a lazy river with spray features, and three slides β€” a closed flume, an open flume and a speed slide. Modern locker rooms, family-friendly amenities and ample deck seating enhance visitor convenience, while the facility supports year-round programming, including swim lessons, water aerobics and competitive training. Built by the City of Avondale to address both recreational and competitive aquatics needs, the center promotes water safety, encourages healthy lifestyles and strengthens community connections. Beyond serving as a place to swim, The Wave has become a symbol of Avondale’s investment in public wellbeing, offering a welcoming hub for events, swim meets and seasonal programs that bring residents together.
