The Bakke Recreation and Wellbeing Center is one of three new developments in the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s masterplan. The center is three times larger than the former natatorium.
Designed for inclusion and wellness, the center is comprised of four floors. Each floor features dedicated spaces for wellness, recreation and fun. The wide array of activities within the center includes the Wolf Teaching Kitchen, massage therapy rooms, napping pods, eight multipurpose courts, a Sub-Zero Ice Center, a climbing and bouldering wall, sports simulators, multipurpose studios, an indoor jogging track, rooftop fitness and indoor open fitness spaces.
In addition, the facility houses The Cove, an eight-lane, 25-yard pool. Designed for people of varying ages and abilities, The Cove pool is equipped with an aquatic lift, a chair lift, a ramp and stairs for ease of access. The pool is intended for recreational lap swimming by the student population, as well as the wider community.
