In 2019, Counsilman-Hunsaker conducted a comprehensive audit of the Foothills Park and Recreation District’s aquatics center, leading to a community decision to renovate and modernize the facility. The new 7,000-square-foot center now features a 5,300-square-foot recreation pool with zero-depth entry, as well as a play structure, open swim areas with floatables and designated lap lanes for serious swimmers. The 1,600-square-foot dive pool has been upgraded with a platform jump, a 1-meter springboard and a drop slide, enhancing the recreational experience. The renovation prioritizes accessibility with a zero-entry wading zone and three ADA lifts, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the facility. Significant upgrades included refurbishing the lap and diving pool shells, installing new gutters and updating plumbing systems. The existing building was replaced with a new entry and bathhouse, housing modern mechanical and filtration systems. A small baby/wading pool was removed to create an activity area within the lap pool, featuring a depth range from zero to 3.5 feet, along with in-ground water sprays. Additional improvements include shade structures, seating areas and enhanced landscaping, making the aquatics center a vibrant hub for community recreation.
