As a result of a facility audit, which identified the need to expand the aquatics program at the Sheridan YMCA, the renovation and expansion of the aquatic center adds 35,000 square feet and renovates an additional 5,600.

The aquatics addition also incorporates a completely new main entrance to the entire facility, with greatly improved wayfinding from when the 1960s portion of the building was completed. To the left of the main entrance desk, members are directed to newly renovated childcare and adult wellness facilities, while to the rear of the main desk, members are directed to men’s and women’s standard locker areas, men’s and women’s gold locker areas, and an innovative multipurpose family/ADA/specialty locker area with enhanced visual privacy elements. To the right of the main entry desk is a multi-use meeting room that can also be reserved for events such as children’s birthday parties.

Two bodies of water offer plentiful aquatics amenities. In the 3,220-square-foot lap pool, members can find six 25-yard lanes, a dropslide, a 1-meter diving board and a climbing wall. A 4,300-square-foot recreation pool offers three 46-foot lap lanes, a water walk, a waterslide, a vortex and underwater benches.
