OH Community Center Expansion | City of Westerville 

The City of Westerville began planning for its facility in 2014, starting with a feasibility study that examined innovative, effective and sustainable opportunities for the parks and recreation system. The city then transitioned to a community-wide information and awareness effort, which included public input, focus group meetings and design charrettes to affirm the community’s vision and blueprint for the future. The effort resulted in a successful bond passage in 2015. 

The City of Westerville’s resulting OH Community Center Expansion is a multigenerational, multi-experiential facility for the entire community. This membership and program-based facility offers patrons numerous areas for social interaction, learning opportunities, and health and fitness. 

For patrons seeking social interaction, the center’s opportunities include an integrated senior center, social gathering space, a multi-use space, a hospitality room, a billiards room and multiple party rooms. For those patrons seeking learning opportunities, a new demonstration kitchen, along with several art rooms, provide a multitude of program offerings. For the fitness-focused, a new multi-activity gym with adventure fitness delivers an exciting obstacle course for patrons of all ages. In addition to fitness and group exercise, the performance fitness area affords an outlet for a higher level of strength and conditioning. The new warm-water program and therapy pool allow patrons to exercise with less pressure on joints and muscles. 

Other amenities include a dedicated esports facility that allows players to gather in a collaborative space, a new water playground, dueling water slides that record patrons’ speed, and an indoor playground accommodating varying skill levels and allowing for use by multiple age segments.
