Duke University’s Yoh Football Center locker room renovation was completed in the summer of 2024, transforming the facility into a state-of-the-art space designed to attract top athletes. The renovation achieved a cohesive blend of branding and functionality. The upgraded spaces provide a functional and inspiring environment to foster team culture and enhance performance on and off the field.
Key improvements include larger lockers equipped with disinfecting antimicrobial lighting and enhanced air circulation for safety and hygiene. The locker room is the first to integrate Vyv antimicrobial LED lighting within the lockers for a low-level cleansing, as well as a more intense deep disinfection, eliminating over 90% of bacteria on surfaces and gear. The locker room shifted from dated wooden lockers and painted CMU to a darker, cutting-edge aesthetic featuring integrated graphics and lighting. The design maintained an open footprint, utilizing angled locker pods to create dynamic graphic moments.
A former hall of fame area was reimagined into recruiting and player lounges, a nutrition center, a nap room and an outdoor patio overlooking the stadium. These areas offer a home-away-from-home experience, providing multiple amenities for relaxation and recovery, including massage chairs, dry float tanks, nap pods and a grab-and-go nutrition center. The underutilized outdoor terrace was revamped to include a basketball court, covered seating, TVs, ceiling fans and grilling stations, all overlooking Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium.
