The McDonald Commons Park renovation represents a generational transformation, expanding and enhancing the existing park to better serve the Madeira community. With a $13.5 million investment from the city council, the project reimagined the space by integrating additional properties and introducing new amenities, creating a more dynamic and accessible destination for residents of all ages.

The redesigned park balances recreation, community gathering spaces and natural beauty. The expansion added two acres of land, improving pedestrian safety and traffic flow while seamlessly connecting the park to the surrounding neighborhood. Sports and recreation upgrades include redesigned field space with both synthetic and natural turf, enhanced drainage, two dedicated pickleball courts, and six multi-use courts for tennis and other activities. A new event lawn and a four-season community room provide flexible spaces for civic and social events, while a designated farmers market and event vendor area further enriches community engagement. The park’s custom play area is now expanded and ADA-friendly, ensuring accessibility for all children. A new veterans memorial offers a meaningful place for reflection, and a new south restroom along the multi-use trail adds convenience.

The reimagined McDonald Commons Park is a vibrant, welcoming space designed to be enjoyed for generations to come. It is also the 2024 recipient of The Ohio Parks and Recreation Association Award of Excellence.
