A second construction worker has died at the future home of the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers.
This week’s death was health related, according to The Los Angeles Times, which reported the worker died at the SoFi Stadium job site just before 5 p.m. Tuesday in Inglewood, Calif.
“His co-workers promptly summoned help and an onsite EMT and local paramedics responded,” Turner-AECOM Hunt, the joint venture building the stadium, told The Times. “Unfortunately, it is with great sadness we confirm that he passed away of what appears to be a personal health related cause.”
According to The Times, the Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner’s office identified the worker as 31-year-old Simon Leo Fite, of Compton.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends, as well as the many people he worked with during this very difficult time,” read a statement on behalf of SoFi Stadium, the Rams and the Chargers.
In early June, a worker died after falling from the SoFi Stadium roof. There were no injuries when an on-site crane collapsed in February.

The $5 billion stadium, which has been under construction since November 2016, is also scheduled to be used for the 2022 Super Bowl, 2023 college football national championship, and the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2028 Olympics. The Times reported that Turner-AECOM emailed trade partners Monday to announce that four more workers tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total at the project to 32.
Construction resumed Wednesday after a break to remember Fite.
