Texas Christian University is the latest school to be notified by the NCAA of allegations regarding the federal investigation into college basketball.
“TCU has received a Notice of Allegations from the NCAA enforcement staff specific to former assistant men’s basketball coach Corey Barker,” TCU officials said in a Wednesday statement to Sports Illustrated. “There were no other individuals involved or additional allegations against the university. Per NCAA rules, because there is a pending case, TCU is not permitted to comment further.”

Barker was fired in March 2019 after three seasons as an assistant coach in the TCU men’s basketball program, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He allegedly received a $6,000 bribe from Adidas consultant Christian Dawkins, a key figure in the federal case, to influence TCU players to sign with a specific sports agency. Dawkins is currently in the midst of serving back-to-back sentences for his role in the bribery scandal, and will spend a total of 18 months and one day in prison.
In the wake of the FBI investigation, all members of the TCU men’s basketball staff told former athletic director Chris Del Conte that they hadn’t done anything that would pull the TCU program into the case.
TCU joins Kansas, North Carolina State, Oklahoma State and USC as programs that have received a Notice of Allegations from the NCAA in regards to the men’s basketball scandal. The NCAA will likely hand out penalties at a later date.
