Creighton University dedicated its new Ruth Scott Training Center this week. The $5 million training facility will primarily support volleyball and women’s basketball, but will also be shared with the local community in Omaha, Neb. The 16,109-square-foot space will provide both programs with ample court space. It includes two full-sized basketball and volleyball courts, six basketball hoops, two automated volleyball nets, state-of-the-art AV equipment and storage space. — GoCreighton.com

Harding University has announced that it plans to build a $5.2 million indoor football practice facility. To be named the Huckeba Field House, the facility will be the largest indoor football facility at the DII level, and among the largest at any level in the country. Plans call for a 77,146-square-foot facility with a 133-yard turf field. The facility is expected to be completed by June. — hunet.harding.edu

Jacksonville State University dedicated a state-of-the-art Recreation and Fitness Center. At 101,000-square-feet, the facility has a three-court gymnasium, three fitness studios, a multi-activity court, an elevated indoor track, cardio and weight training equipment, two racquetball courts, indoor and outdoor pools and a 42-foot climbing wall. — JSU.edu

Texas A&M has a number of ongoing facility projects in the works. Among the upcoming improvements are a $7 million expansion of the swimming and diving team’s facilities, a $2.5 million upgrade for the women’s basketball team locker room, and new turf for the football team’s Davis Player Development Center. Mercyhurst University announced that it had received a $4 million gift from William and Betsy Vorsheck to kick off its $9.5 million Laker for Life campaign. The athletics focused campaign will help fund a number of athletic facility projects, including upgrades to the Mercyhurst Ice Center, Mercyhurst Athletic Complex, Saxon Stadium and the William Vorsheck Jr. Athletic Complex. Upgrades will include LED lighting, new synthetic turf surfaces, cooling system upgrades, dasher boards, locker room improvements, a new gym floor, and improvements to the Fitness and Recreation Center. — hurstathletics.com
The Aloha Stadium Authority is seeking $30 million from the Hawaii state legislature for repairs and upgrades. According to the Authority, parts of the stadium are deteriorating and showing signs of corrosion. The Authority maintains that the stadium, which is home to the University of Hawaii football team, is safe, but is still seeking the funds in chunks as part of the state’s 2020 and 2021 budgets. — Hawaii Tribune-Herald
