The University of Pittsburgh recently broke ground on a new state-of-the-art Campus Recreation and Wellness Center last Thursday in a ceremony on campus.
Moody Nolan will act as the lead architect on the innovative multi-story facility, which will encompass all aspects of health and wellness, the university said in a release. Design plans include a recreation pool; a jogging track; weight-lifting equipment; multi-activity courts for basketball, volleyball and other activities; dining options and more.
The 270,000-square-foot, multi-story facility is expected to open in the fall of 2024. It will boast cutting-edge experiences that encompass a holistic approach to health and wellness.
The center will be at the site of the former O’Hara Garage and LRDC building,
“Our vision for the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center is that it will be a transformative space in the heart of campus that serves as the intersection of well-being for the Pitt community,” said vice provost Kenyon Bonner. “Put another way, our vision is to create the newest, coolest and healthiest place on campus.”
