As the popularity of stadium ice hockey solidifies, staging events remains a delicate balance of nature versus nurture.

The University of Michigan men's hockey team took to the ice and immediately began whooping it up. "They were yippin' and yappin'," says Mike Stevenson, the university's executive associate director of athletics. "You could just tell it was a different atmosphere, and they were having a hell of a lot of fun."
