Wayne State University this week announced plans to build a new basketball arena. The school’s board of governors approved $25 million for the construction of the facility, which will serve both the men’s and women’s basketball programs. Plans call for a 70,000-square-foot arena with seating for approximately 3,000, offices, locker room areas, concessions and more. In addition to serving the school’s athletics programs, it will also house the G League franchise affiliate of the Detroit Pistons. The arena is scheduled for opening prior to the 2021-22 basketball season. — wsuathletics.com
